Yulong’s first-season sire Alabama Express (Redoute’s Choice) sired his inaugural winner from his first runner yesterday when Karavas (2 f ex All Of Me by Pierro) landed the $50,000 Moorundi Classic Mdn Plate (900m) at Murray Bridge.
Sent off the $2.15 favourite under Jake Toeroek, the Richard and Chantelle Jolly-trained filly battled well in the closing stages to deny Yes Yes Tess (Yes Yes Yes) by a head at the line, with a further three lengths back to Reality Miss (Akeed Mofeed) in third.
Karavas was a $260,000 purchase for her trainers at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale Showcase Session from the Yulong draft, and runs for Neville Morgan. She is the first winner out of the winning Pierro (Lonhro) mare All Of Me, a half-sister to Group winners Star of Giselle (Reset) and Solicit (Street Cry) from stakes winner Princesa (Danehill), a daughter of Group 1 winner Kapchat (Centaine).
Alabama Express is standing at Yulong for a fee of $22,000 (inc GST).
Our faith in first season sire Alabama Express looks warranted with the Alabama Express siring a great winner in SA on Saturday. Our filly is a cracking type and we look forward to seeing her progress further. From stakes winning Hussonet mare, Blue Morpho we purchased our lovely filly from the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale for $80,000.
