Ironclad will next tackle the $2 million Hill Stakes (1900m) at Rosehill after pleasing his co-trainer in a race-day exhibition gallop at Murray Bridge on Wednesday.
The Will Clarken and Niki O'Shea-trained import returned to the winner's stall for the first time in 18 months with a dogged on-pace win under 61kg in the Listed Balaklava Cup (1600m) last start.
Todd Pannell partnered the eight-year-old in Wednesday's gallop, in which he led up stablemate Silent Surrente, who was ridden by Ben Price.
Ironclad held a narrow margin at the post, with O'Shea confirming he will travel to Melbourne on Thursday before another float trip to Sydney over the weekend.
A multiple winner over 2000m in the UK, Ironclad has only run twice beyond 1600m in Australia - he finished second to Amelia's Jewel in the Northerly Stakes (1800m) before running third in the Group 2 Van Heemst Stakes (2100m).
"Todd was very happy with him," O'Shea said.
"He said he was lovely and relaxed, moving nicely.
"He'll travel to Melbourne on Thursday before he heads up to Sydney."
O'Shea said Silent Surrente will potentially run in next month's Listed Murray Bridge Gold Cup (1600m), with the stable chasing back-to-back wins after Agreeable's victory in 2022.
