Rising four-year-old Extremely Lucky has suddenly appeared in the market for the G1 Moir Stakes at The Valley in September after an extraordinary performance to land his first Stakes race in Adelaide on Saturday.
"He sort of takes my breath away the horse," an enthused trainer Will Clarken told Racing.com.
"He’s so quiet and composed. You’d walk past his box every time. He’s not an oil painting but he’s just got an amazing change of gear and I hope he can go to where I think he can.
"We’d like to go heading down the path of going over and taking on some of the better horses in Melbourne."
Extremely Lucky looked extremely unlikely to score in the Listed Lightning Stakes (1050m) at Morphettville when the field turned for home, but he produced a sizzling final sprint from the rear of the field to win easing up.
After his third win from just his fifth start, he firmed into $11 for the G1 Moir Stakes (1000m).
Starting at $4, Extremely Lucky had nearly a length margin on the line over $51 bolter Calla Dream with Kallos ($5.50) in third place.

Winning rider Todd Pannell was clearly impressed by the small but smart sprinter: "I haven’t ridden a horse like this for quite a while now," he said.
"The horse switches off and goes to sleep and quickens off the bridle as well.
"He doesn’t spend any energy in the early stages of the race so that is why he’s got such an electric turn of foot.
"He’s a very small horse, but he’s got a very big engine."
Extremely Lucky, who is by Extreme Choice, could have his first race in Victoria on August 20 in the Listed Carlyon Stakes (1000m) at The Valley before stepping to the G2 company of the McEwen Stakes (1000m) on September 3, three weeks before the $1 million Moir.
"From the Moir, if he’s going good enough and continues the way he’s going, we can go from there," Clarken said.
