Heading towards the Group 1 Charter Keck Cramer Moir Stakes at The Valley on Friday night, trainer Will Clarken could not be any happier with his star mare Bella Vella.
"She's fantastic and has ticked every box since her first-up win in the McEwen Stakes and has travelled and arrived in Melbourne in great order," Clarken said.
"I must admit I don't like the inside gate (one) as she is going to get crossed and buried somewhere on the inside.
"My mare likes to build her speed and can maintain it once she is up and running.
"If she has to wait and sit and dash that could be against her."
Clarken continued: "The rain that is forecast could also have a bearing on the track and where the right place to be is and that, too, obviously is out of our control.
"Overall I rate her a sound each-way chance and it has been a long time since she has let us down."
Bella Vella, who broke through at the elite level in May's TAB Classic, is the $6 second favourite in Sportsbet's market for Friday's race, with Fabergino ($4) rated on top.
