Will Clarken is in the process of setting up a second base at Ballarat, with an eye to picking off more of Victoria's racing riches.
The expansion comes in Clarken Racing's 10th year in operation, with Racing Victoria recently approving the application for the stable that currently sits third in the South Australia Metro Premiership.
"It will be business as usual at the Morphettville base, but with the money on offer for VOBIS races and what not, we thought it was the right time to set up a Victorian stable," Clarken told Punters.
Clarken sees Ballarat as the perfect location from which to access Victorian meetings, with the Dowling Forest base under 90 minutes from Melbourne.
"We'll get the horses fit in South Australia and then send them to Victoria when they are ready to race," Clarken said.
"I'll be sharing my time between the two stables but I'll have someone helping me out with managing the Ballarat base."
Clarken expects to have the Ballarat stable up and running in two to three months time, no doubt with an eye to the Warrnambool racing carnival in early May.
